Oxford United may be unbeaten so far in Sky Bet League 1 but boss Karl Robinson believes every Manager in the division will be hoping there is more to come from their team.
“We think we’ve got more to come, but there will be 23 other Managers in this league saying the same thing” he told iFollow today.
“We’re not naive and everyone will improve after the first couple of games. Those at the bottom are sorting one or two things out, the ones in the middle will be thinking there are things they can do better and the ones with nine points will still think they can improve too.
“Bolton will say the same as us but they have a cohesive group of players who are very good in and out of possession. They are a nice team to watch and that’s why I say we still need to improve; we are playing Bolton then Lincoln in our next two games and we will have to be better than we were against Charlton and Crewe.
“We are under no illusions but even with the injuries we have got we feel we are improving day by day.
“I don’t want to say too much about the injuries but there are a number of key players who won’t travel. Maybe because of the last 18 months we have all had to improve and be more flexible in our planning and more open-minded to change. People aren’t usually comfortable with change but we have learned to live with it and there’s nothing we can do about the situation so it’s not something I get too bogged down with.
“We have a good squad so it’s a case of ‘step up and show what you can do to keep the shirt’.”
