TEAM NEWS
Manager Liam Gilbert said:

“Gillingham will be a good test. They’ll be a good team; they always are physical and well organised. Six months has been a long time since our last game, but we will be ready to go next weekend.”

“I think we have looked really sharp and Dean [Tetley] who has been brought in to help with physical performance has done a great job. The programmes and plans that he has given to the girls, they have done well with.”

PRE-SEASON FORM GUIDE

Oxford - W: 3 D: 1 L: 1

United started pre-season in fine form, beginning with an 8-1 win versus Dulwich Hamlet. Following that, The U’s travelled to Wolves to record an eventful 6-6 draw, before returning to action the following weekend where a Cheryl Williams penalty guided them to a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest. The penultimate pre-season fixture finished 2-1 to United against Southampton, before Oxford rounded off pre-season with a 1-0 loss to Wimbledon.

Gillingham- W: 2 D: 1 L: 0

Our opponents’ first game of pre-season began with a 3-0 win over Aylesford Ladies, manager Josh Oatham’s side then facing Enfield Town Ladies and winning 2-1. Gillingham, like Oxford, have also faced Wimbledon in pre-season, with The Gills recording a 1-1 draw.

Gillingham’s One to Watch: Maddie Farrand
Originally from Canada, Farrand scored four league goals in 12 appearances during last season. The striker signed on for the 2020/21 campaign this week with The Gills, with manager Josh Oatham retaining Farrand who has also spent time playing for Chelsea at youth level.
