Following today’s announcement by the Government regarding new Covid-19 guidelines Oxford United’s next home league game against Crewe Alexandra will no longer be a pilot match for the return of fans to games.
The initial plan was to test whether 1,000 fans could attend the game in a safe environment that followed all of the current restrictions and protocols. The club had worked with the relevant safety advisory groups and submitted final plans, confident that they would be approaved and fans would be allowed back for that game.
However, with the coronavirus alert level rising to 4 the Government today announced that plans for the return of live sport were being halted.
The safety of supporters, staff and player has always been the priority for Oxford United and therefore the pilot game will now take place at a later date.
We will continuing planning to make returning to the stadium as safe as possible for supporters following latest government advice.
Games will continue to be streamed on iFollow and will be available for free to all Season Ticket Holders
