There was frustration for Oxford United boss Karl Robinson as his side lost 2-0 at former club Charlton Athletic last night
“To say we were the better team and lose 2-0 becomes a silly comment” he told iFollow. “But between the two boxes I thought we were the better team. In the boxes we made mistakes that they capitalised on, and we made more mistakes than the opposition. That’s not a good recipe.
I can’t question my team's effort but we are making key, fundamental mistakes and getting punished. The ratio of goals against us is one to one for shots on targets. I don’t think the opposition have had more than two shots above goals scored all season. Clean sheets are born from desire and work rate but a little bit of luck as well. Right now we are working hard but it seems every shot goes in as opposed to us not taking our own chances.
“We have players who can score but there is a little bit of a lack of confidence, obviously, running through the team.
“Every time we try and get a foothold on the season the momentum goes against us through things that are beyond our control. But there are little things we need to be better at and we come away from here with nothing to show for our efforts again.”
