Oxford United look to get a rhythm going when they travel to Charlton Athletic in Sky Bet League 1 on Tuesday evening (7pm)
“It has been stop-start” Karl Robinson confirmed to iFollow this morning as he prepared to face his former club.
“It has been difficult to get a rhythm going but you can’t do much about it. We have only had six games so far, two of them at home. So, incredibly, by the end of the week we will have played six games away and only two at home. It’s going to be hard this week going to Charlton and then Fleetwood but we won the last game last Tuesday so we’d love to build on that.
“That’s why the weekend was frustrating in so many ways. We played an 11 v 11 training game but it felt a bit flat which I guess is inevitable when we should have been playing a local derby against Swindon with all the passion you get in that fixture.
“Hopefully the few extra days mean we get a player or two back after injury. Anthony Forde is close and John Mousinho played in the training game but we’ll just wait and see. Whoever plays we know we are facing a fantastic club and the Valley is always a great ground to play at so it is a game everyone will be looking forward to. I have a lot of friends there still and look forward to gong back but the most important thing by far is to go there and get a win if we can, then prepare for the weekend.”
