Oxford United may have no game this weekend but that won’t mean a weekend off for the players and staff.
The U’s are without a fixture on Saturday due to Doncaster Rovers’ international commitments but boss Karl Robinson and his coaching and scouting staff are all heading for games on Saturday afternoon with the players then reporting for training on Sunday ahead of Tuesday night’s home game against Crewe Alexandra.
United trained as usual this morning but a weekend with no fixture presented them with a chance to test players and measure their progress this season including a session on the nearby Oxford City Athletics Track where there were some impressive times over 400 metres in particular.
There were encouraging signs on the track with Rob Atkinson able to take part while back on the training pitches Jamie Hanson was able to return to the grass before the fantastic sight of Cameron Brannagan returning to the Training Ground for the first time, training on his own but smiling his way through his first session after a serious eye inflammation.
Meanwhile, watch the video below to hear from Head of Sports Science Chris Short as he talks more about the testing the players went through.
