Oxford United are pleased to announce that influential defender John Mousinho has agreed a new deal with the U’s.
The 34-year-old has been a big part of United’s season and the new one year agreement, with an option for a further year, also means that he is eligible to play in the play-offs, kicking off this Friday at Portsmouth.
“There was no great urgency at first” he told us. “I wasn’t going anywhere else and we had agreed everything but then it suddenly became more real to get it officially sorted before the play-offs so we can hopefully finish this season off like we all want to do.
“I have really enjoyed my time here, it’s a club on the up and it’s great to get things sorted and be able to focus everything on the weekend now.”
Karl Robinson told us:
“It’s not just about Mous as a player. He is a fantastic person to have around the club, a major influence and someone who demands the very highest standards from everyone around him. He still has plenty to offer on the pitch and I think this is a real positive move for everyone.”
United have also competed the paperwork to ensure that Jamie Mackie and Liam Kelly are available for Friday night’s play-off first leg at Portsmouth, with confirmation expected later today.
