Several of our players were in action on loan this weekend.
Rob Hall was the one senior player out on loan to feature, with Rob Atkinson missing Eastleigh’s game through injury.
Hall started but was unable to prevent FGR losing 2-1 at home to Walsall in League 2.
With Oxford City not in action it meant a free weekend for Kevin Berkoe and Kyran Lofthouse, who both played for the U’s in the Senior Cup last week instead (where it was nice to see former Academy players Canice Carroll and Miles Welch-Hayes in the crowd) but Michael Elechi and Aaron McCreadie were involved for Gosport Borough and left-back Elechi was voted Man of the Match in their fine win over leaders Truro City.
The under 18 side has moved into the second phase of their season now and kick off their Merit League campaign this coming Saturday when they travel to Northampton Town.
Several of the second year scholars will be going out on loan to continue their development with deals for Fabio Lopes, Leon Chambers-Parillon, Fabio Sole, Max Harris and Nico Jones likely to be completed in the next few days.
The first opportunities have come for goalkeeper Max Evans and forwards Jordan Edwards and Jack Stevens. Max and Jordan both featured for Bracknell Town Saints on Saturday while Jack came on as a sub for Thame United against Berkhamsted at the ASM Stadium after completing his loan move that morning.
Meanwhile keeper Kie Plumley was another player left frustrated when Camberley’s game against Banstead was called off due to the weather..
