Robinson Ready For Ipswich Test

Oxford United head for Portman Road on Saturday for the first time this century.

The U’s look to back up a 5-0 win over Wimbledon with another good performance at Ipswich Town and boss Karl Robinson is looking forward to a trip to a famous old ground.

“It’s a special place to go and play” he told iFollow today. “I said to the players this morning that you won’t play at many ground with traditions like this one. It’s always a club you know is waiting to kick off again and they are still in a good position in the league and we will have to be at our very best to get anything.”

Last month saw the teams battle out a draw in atrocious conditions at the Kassam Stadium: does Karl take anything from that first meeting?

“No, I think the only thing I took from it was that we are two very honest teams and somehow we put on some sort of display for the people who came to the stadium. We’ll be fine- we just trained today in an absolute downpour as well so we’re getting used to it!”

United welcome Alex Gorrin back after suspension but will be without skipper John Mousinho who is sidelined with a knee injury.

“Alex is available again but we had a good win and we will make a decision on the team closer to the time” Karl said. “With Mous we are just waiting for the inflamation to settle down because until then we don’t really know how long he will be out.

“But other than that we are ready and raring to go. It’s one of the hardest away games we have left. We have been to Sunderland and Rotherham and done well so now we want to try and tick this one off and do well again.

“We have two big home games this week as well against Accrington and Southend so let’s try and go into the week with another good performance and a win that, hopefully, we fully deserve.”
