United Shortlisted For Two Awards

Oxford United’s fantastic September has caught the eyes of the judges in the Sky Bet Manager and Player of the Month awards.

Karl Robinson and James Henry are both shortlisted in the divisional awards which are:

Sky Bet League 1 Player of the Month shortlist:

James Henry (Oxford United) – midfielder
Whether it be two coolly-taken penalties against Tranmere, a superb volley at Lincoln or, in turn, a clipped finish, floated assist and guided header against Gillingham, the midfielder was at the heart of Oxford’s goal-crazy September.

Jonson Clarke-Harris (Bristol Rovers) - striker
It was not just his five goals in five games, including a spectacular overhead kick against Accrington, which stood out, but the fact that every one of his efforts was either an equaliser or the goal which gave Rovers a lead.

Mo Eisa (Peterborough United) - striker
A member of the Posh Three, he outshone even Marcus Maddison and Ivan Toney with the quality of his four goals in four games. Willing to take on defenders in the area, his dancing feet served up a memorable strike against Wimbledon.

Kane Vincent-Young (Ipswich Town) – wing-back
The 23-year-old formed part of an Ipswich defensive shield which conceded just a solitary goal in four games. He also galloped forward to head the winner at Gillingham and scored against Tranmere with a superb jinking run and shot.

The judging panel for the comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; EFL Communications Director Mark Rowan and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.

The September nominations for the Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month Award are:

Karl Robinson (Oxford United)
If Oxford’s season began slowly in August, it burst into technicolour life in September with five games producing ten points, 13 goals and four successive clean sheets. The highlight was a resounding 6-0 victory at Lincoln.

Gareth Ainsworth (Wycombe Wanderers)
Last season’s struggles were forgotten as Ainsworth guided Wycombe to the dizzy heights of second place in League One after another fine haul of ten points from five games on a lower budget than most in the division.

Joey Barton (Fleetwood Town)
A free-scoring month for Fleetwood. Their ten points from four unbeaten games were matched by ten goals, three in each of the away games at Southend and Shrewsbury. Barton has bedded in his summer recruits impressively.

Graham Coughlan (Bristol Rovers)
After last season’s survival, the Irishman spent his summer recruiting his own players and has blended them into an attacking unit full of width and pace. September saw his plan come to fruition with 11 points from five games.

ALL WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON FRIDAY 11 OCTOBER 2019

The Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel comprises former Barnsley manager Danny Wilson, Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; EFL Communications Director Mark Rowan, and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.
