Oxford United showed plenty of fight as they came away from Accrington with a point on Saturday.
The U’s were twice ahead at the Wham Stadium but overcame one or two challenges before extending their unbeaten run.
“Thanks to the fans who came and gave us great support as they always do on what turned out to be a bit of a frustrating afternoon for us” Karl Robinson told iFollow. “We had a player go off who is not in a good place with his ankle and then the player who replaced him slips and injures his groin as well so you lose two players and have to get over that but I thought the players’ attitude was fantastic, every single one of them.
“I thought we were off it today but not in effort and I’m proud of them for that. This team last year would have sunk in those circumstances. The first goal was our fault as well so when you look at all the things that went against us I am pleased to come away with a point.
“We are here to fight; we are a team and I think you can see that when things do go wrong there is a steely side to us and we fight as a team and I am really pleased that the players showed that side of them today.
“I’ve not seen that from them. I have seen great football and attacking play but there is another side to the game and the season throws so many things at you which you just have to stand up to. Some of the things that got thrown at us today were difficult to take but we came through it and we kept our unbeaten run going so we come away with a point and we move on.”
