Oxford United's prize for progress in the FA Youth Cup is an away tie at Colchester United in the second round this evening.
United's bright young under 18s side, 6-1 winners over Bristol Rovers on Saturday, needed a late goal from 16-year-old Adam Smith to get them past a battling Reading City side in the last round but get the chance to play at Colchester's Jobserve Community Stadium and test themselves against a strong (other) U's side tonight.
The U's are without forward Jack Stevens who is ineligible for the competition, but welcome back Slavi Spasov who was on target at the weekend after an eight-month lay off. Nico Jones, fresh from captaining the senior side at Crawley last week, and Tyler Goodrham who made his debut the same night are joined in the squad by Fabio Lopes and Fabio Sole who have both made senior appearances while left back Sam Johnson returns to the squad after a back injury.
