Oxford United Women progressed to the semi finals of the Oxfordshire County Cup with an astonishing 32-0 win over Launton Ladies
The U's started the game brightly and didn’t have to wait long for their opener when Cat Beaver lobbed the Launton goalkeeper from the edge of the area to open the scoring.
It got better a minute later as Timms picked the ball up inside the area and finished low into the bottom corner to double United’s lead inside seven minutes. United then scored three goals in quick succession as Sophie Baker tapped in United’s third before Timms grabbed her second of the game with a close-range finish before Brogan Moore made it five in 15 minutes with a well-taken finish one-on-one.
Credit where it’s due to the Launton defence who threw their bodies on the line when it mattered but United were too strong and the goals kept coming. Two composed finishes from Carly Johns made it seven before Timms rounded off her hat-trick on 20 minutes with a chip over the goalkeeper. United made it nine through Sophie Baker before Carly Johns rounded off her hat-trick before the half hour mark to make it 10 nil to United.
Cat Beaver made it eleven before it was Sophie Baker’s turn to get her hat-trick as she bundled in number twelve for the U’s in the first half as Moore and Timms rounded off the first half scoring to put the U’s fourteen ahead at the interval.
United carried on the way they left off in the second half, with Johns and Timms combining well to twice further extend the lead; Johns squaring to the U’s forward on both occasions to tap in. Moore then grabbed her hat-trick with another composed finish as Johns made it 18 on the hour mark.
Moore made it nineteen for the U’s before Billie Bough-French made it twenty on her debut after signing for the first team from the RTC yesterday. Moore was on target again moments later before Georgia Clifford lobbed the keeper from 25 yards. Moore turned in her sixth of the game before Williams made it twenty-four nil to the U’s with 20 minutes left on the clock.
Sophie Baker, Georgia Clifford, an own goal from a Launton defender, Ellie Searle and Amber Roberts rounded off the scoring as the U's finished the game at 32-0.
