Oxford United Women defender Immy Lancaster is looking to put things right at home against Launton in the County Cup on Sunday after a narrow defeat to Keynsham Town yesterday.
Despite creating plenty of opportunities United Women couldn’t find a way through a stubborn Keynsham Town defence yesterday afternoon. Immy told us:
“We are disappointed. We dominated the game, had so many chances and so many corners but we just couldn’t put the ball into the back of the net so we are really disappointed but hopefully we can turn that around in the next few weeks.”
“We switched the ball well and retained possession, I just think the final ball we lacked. We didn’t test the goalkeeper enough, so we need to work on that. I think we have to find ways to win these games when we do go 1-0 down, we’ve got to find a way back into the game and really test teams when we play them.”
Next up the U’s women face Launton at home in the County Cup, and Immy hopes the side can put things right on Sunday.
“We have Launton next and we will be working hard together and hopefully we can get that result. The County Cup is where we tend to use the whole squad together and it’s always good to get other players involved because we are a team and we will be hoping to get the win. We want to start building up a run of results and hopefully that will start on Sunday.”
