Youth Team Go Joint Top

Oxford United’s under 18s team moved joint top of the Merit League with a 3-2 win over Peterborough United on Saturday morning.

An early goal from striker Jack Stevens and a penalty from Kyran Lofthouse put United 2-0 up against the Posh before they were pegged back to 2-1 at half time. Ryan Crooks settled the nerves with a well-taken goal to make it 3-1 before a late Peterborough goal made it an anxious last few minutes for the U’s.

Coach Leon Blackmore-Such told us

“It was a good week with seven points from three game all in tough conditions so we have been delighted with that. There are always things to work on but we have a free week now before we head for Exeter on Saturday and hopefully we can keep this form going and end the season really strongly.”
