Oxford United fought their way to a point on the road at Rochdale last night in a tough game played in difficult conditions.
United hit the bar through Curtis Nelson but were grateful to keeper Simon Eastwood for a terrifiic double save to keep the score at 0-0 and ensure they came away from Spotland with some reward.
“It could have been more because I thought we dominated the game, although they created the best chance and you have to take your hat off to Simon Eastwood for a wonderful save, but over the 90 minutes I thought we were the better team” Karl Robinson told iFollow.
“We have to take our chances when they come along and be more ruthless in the final third. Tonight was tough on one of the hardest pitches we’ll play on all season and with the wind swirling about and the rain falling; it was always going to be a scrappy affair but we stuck to our task tonight.
"Now we move on to Bradford and have to be calm and calculated and allow our technical ability and our tactical information to come through.
“When you are where we are then keeping clean sheets is an art and that too is something we have to keep doing moving forward, so it was important we kept a clean sheet tonight. In the last couple of games we have conceded late goals and we have to get out of that mindset and stay strong, stay brave and stick together.
"The fans, the players and all of us have a massive role to play, starting this weekend at home to Bradford.”
