Oxford United have injury doubts over Gavin Whyte, Rob Dickie and Jordan Graham as they prepare to welcome Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.
Whyte missed both of Northern Ireland’s games last weekend with a thigh injury while Dickie (calf) and Graham (knee) are rated doubtful after picking up knocks in the win at Coventry last Saturday
"Gavin has come back with a thigh injury and is doubtful as are Rob Dickie and Jordan Graham after last weekend” Karl Robinson told iFollow earlier today. “We roll with the punches as we have done all year and there are players around who need to be ready to make the most of their opportunity if it comes along.”
Wins over Bradford and Coventry have lifted the U’s to 13th place in Sky Bet League 1 but Karl insists his players won’t be relaxing when they take on Gareth Ainsworth’s Wanderers:
“We won’t be easing up” he said “but it’s a massive game for many reasons. Geographically, but also for the position we find ourselves in the league. We have to prepare right and we have to be ready for what I am sure will be a really good game.
“We are playing teams around us in the league in the next three games and I understand the context but it can’t be our sole motivation. You can’t put any more effort into one game than the others and we try and pride ourselves on 100% detail and putting everything into our performance.
“We have to be more ruthless than we have been in the last couple of games but Gareth’s teams have an intensity and an honesty about them. Wycombe have the highest number of balls into the opposition boxes from crosses and set pieces and are in the top three for challenges won so we know what we are up against. I like to think we are competitive ourselves. I want my team to roll their sleeves up and compete for the whole 90 minutes and the fans to come along and get behind us and help us get another very important three points.”
