Polythene UK To Celebrate Ten Years With The U's

Oxford United are delighted to announce that long term club sponsor Polythene UK have signed an extended sponsorship agreement until June 2021 – taking their fantastic backing as sponsors of the U’s to ten years.

As supporters may have seen in our kit launch earlier today, the Polythene UK logo will once again be on the back of all player and replica shirts for the coming two seasons.

Based in Witney, Polythene UK have been avid supporters of the U’s for years and with the new deal being signed will reach the milestone of a decade of valued sponsorship.

Earlier this season we announced that moving forwards all plastic bags used in our club retail operations at the Stadium Store and Covered Market Store will be certified as Carbon Neutral, thanks to Polythene UK.

This certification PAS2050 of the Polythene UK product by the Carbon Trust means that Oxford United were the first football club in the UK to use plastic bags certified in this way. Polythene UK have developed the technology and manufacturing process for these bags using bio (plant) based raw material.

We were delighted to learn more about this from Polythene UK and highly recommend this to other businesses looking to source more sustainable plastic for their business.

Managing Director James Woollard said “Polythene UK are very proud to have been in partnership with the club and to reach 10 years as shirt sponsors is amazing and we thank everyone at the club for looking after us so well, wishing the staff and team all the best for the new season from everyone at Polythene UK, COYY”.

Commercial and Marketing Director Matt Everett said “Having supported the club myself for many years Polythene UK is a company that I have associated with the club for a long time. As a local company it is fantastic that Polythene UK have agreed to continue their sponsorship of the club to at least a decade. It is vital that as well as building the club globally  we also keep building our local connections and this extension is testament to that. We’d like to thank James, Kylie, Jack and everyone at Polythene UK for their continued support”.

Managing Director Niall McWilliams added “To have a sponsor in place for ten years is a fantastic milestone, especially a local one. Polythene UK’s support of the club during this time has been unwavering and we are delighted that they have continued to show their support in sponsoring us for a further two years.”
