Woking Progress

Oxford United’s pre-season campaign continued with a 1-1 draw at Woking on Saturday. A first half goal from trialist Elliott Frear was matched by a second half goal from Jake Hyde but U’s’ boss Karl Robinson was pleased with his team’s performance after a tough week that saw them play at Glasgow Rangers, Oxford City, Thame United and Brackley Town.

“We coped with things well” he told iFollow . “We didn’t create as many chances as we’d have liked but when you don’t have your strikers available or any of your wingers fit it’s always hard to find a cutting edge!

"But fingers crossed we can get some business done this week to bring new faces in. For those already here then five games in seven days is a big ask and they have coped really well.

“James Henry went over but we will look at him on Monday just to check he is OK.

“As an exercise it has been fantastic and the week has gone well. Today we did OK against good opposition. We thank Woking and we wish them well back in the Conference this year. I am sure, with the way they play, they will be a force to be reckoned with.

“It was always going to be difficult for us today but we look fit and I thought we stood up to it very well.”
