PREVIEW - Glasgow Rangers v Oxford United

Oxford United start pre-season with a fantastic friendly away at Glasgow Rangers on Sunday (3pm).

TEAM NEWS
United travel back from Portugal on Friday after a week's intensive training - Rangers were also in the Algarve last week and Karl Robinson is looking forward to pitting his wits against Rangers boss Steven Gerrard.

"He has done really well and will have his team well prepared, we know that. They are closer to their season than we are to ours and we also know we will be adding new faces to our squad so this is a fantastic opportunity for everyone to experience playing at a big stadium against a big club and starting to stake a claim to be in the starting XI at Sunderland on the opening day."

Striker Jamie Mackie is unlikely to be risked due to a tightening up of his back towards the end of the week but the only player definitely out is Shandon Baptiste who is close to a full return from injury but not yet ready to play matches.

Rob Hall missed much of last season but has looked sharp in training and there will be a first chance for many Oxford fans to see new signings Alex Rodriguez-Gorrin and Tariqe Fosu.

Youngsters Sam Allardyce, Kevin Berkoe, Nico Jones and Fabio Lopes have been with the squad in Portugal and there could be an opportunity for one or two more of the Under 23s to come in to the squad because they are currently on pre-season tour in Scotland.
