Oxford United have completed the signing of Scottish international Chris Cadden from Columbus Crew on a season-long loan deal.
The 22-year-old can play at either right back or on the right wing and joins on loan after signing for Columbus from Motherwell where he made over 120 appearances after progressing from the youth system.
Chris told us
“It is complicated and has been a little bit frustrating because there was a lot of paperwork to go through. Signing for Columbus will be an amazing experience but Oxford is a fantastic club as well and once this idea came up I was really excited because I have always wanted to play in the English leagues as well. Now it is just a case of getting fully match fit and playing a part in what I am sure will be a successful season.”
Head Coach Karl Robinson added
“Firstly it is a very strong signing for us because Chris is a full international who we have admired for a while now. He played alongside Alex Gorrin last season, can play anywhere down that right hand side and has settled in very quickly here in Oxford. It has taken a while to be able to complete the paperwork but we believe that when the fans see Chris play they will agree that it was worth the wait.”
Chris goes straight into the United squad to face Fulham this evening in a pre-season friendly at the Kassam Stadium.
