A number of Oxford United’s under 18s were again given the chance to step up in a behind closed doors friendly at Reading this afternoon.
The under 18s kick off the next stage of their campaign away at Southampton in a new league on Saturday and Max Harris, Kyran Lofthouse, Freddie Niblett, Aaron McCreadie, Ryan Crooks and Nico Jones were all given a chance to shine in a decent work out that saw the U’s draw 2-2.
Both goals came from a trialist and Chris Allen told us:
“You want these fixtures to be competitive and this certainly was. As well as our own youngsters we had three or four trialists involved, all looking for an opportunity and they did well. We have big games coming up for the under 18 and under 23 sides so it was good timing for us.
"Aaron, Kyran and Armani Little were the ones that caught my eye today but over all it was a good performance and really encouraging again.
