KARL: United Galvanising The City

Oxford United prepare for Boxing Day with the whole city getting behind them after a win over Wycombe Wanderers lifted them into the play-off places in League 1 again.

James Henry’s goal earned the U’s all three points and Head Coach Karl Robinson thanked the fans for their incredible support once more.

“We were saying the other day that to get over 10,000 for the first time ever for three games would be amazing. It is galvanising the city. Whatever troubles are going round in life there are so many things going on around the world that aren’t great, so come and enjoy your football. It’s a release from normality for two hours. If you win then it puts you in a place that’s great and when we have the support here it is an amazing place to be.

“I was so excited coming to the game today because I knew the attendance was relatively high and I want to thank everyone who has worked around the clock to make that happen. But most of all I want to thank the players because I love them to death. We have the staff Christmas party on Sunday night and then it’s a crazy period, but we are already three points better off than we were over Christmas last year!

“I thought when it was eleven v eleven we were magnificent and our intention right from the start was brave. You know the pride I have in my players and the football club that I work for. I love it and am loving it more than any other time. We really believe in a common goal and I thought the players showed that today.”
