Oxford United kick off their home games against Peterborough United on Saturday.
Fresh from a spirited draw at Sunderland on the opening day the U’s are in a good place as they prepare to face the Posh, but Karl Robinson told iFollow earlier that last weekend’s performance is now a thing of the past.
“The performance at Sunderland has gone” he told iFollow.“ But we are in a good place. We have just about everyone training, if not match fit yet: Anthony Forde for example played 45 for the Under 23s on Tuesday and Shandon Baptiste is back training but not going to be risked.
"We are close to getting a striker in, something everyone knows we have been looking to do for a while. There is another one a little further down the line plus a midfield player so we are in a much better place than we were twelve months ago.”
United come up against a Peterborough side who are many experts’ tip for promotion this year.
“Peterborough have a way of doing things and the Chairman has been consistent in their philosophy and their buying culture” Karl said. “Darren Ferguson started it a long time ago and they believe in what they are doing. Because of the people at the top they have become a successful club at this level. They have done good business this window and on their day they are one of the most feared teams in the league because they have such firepower.
“But we will make sure we are at our best and do things right to win the game.”
“We are calm, we are a stronger squad and the building and infrastructure is in place now here for everything we are trying to do. Anything we bring in goes back to the football club to build for the future, for long term success, which for me is just as important as instant success.”
