This Sunday sees Oxford United Women face Oxford City Ladies in the Oxfordshire County Cup with United nominally the away side, albeit at a ground both sides call home.
United started this season's County Cup campaign with a record 18-0 win away to North Leigh Ladies and continued their good cup form in the following rounds with a 6-0 win over Banbury United Women and an 8-0 win over Carterton Ladies and Girls in the Semi-Final at Court Place Farm in February.
For Oxford City Ladies the route has been even more straightforward. They didn't even have to play in the first two rounds, being issued home-walkover win, before finally facing Barton United Ladies in the Semi-Final, a game they comfortably won 6-0.
For United, Liam Gilbert has used the club’s return to the competition as a way to test out both personnel and formations and has often used the tournament to allow those on the fringes of his squad or returning to fitness the chance to get some vital minutes.
With United back at Court Place Fram on Tuesday evening for a massive National League match against Cardiff City (7.45pm kick off) Gilbert may well keep faith with the players that have got his side to the final.
The game kicks off at 3pm at Court Place Farm.
Meanwhile United's under 18s take an Easter break this weekend with the title race in Merit League 1 hotting up nicely.
A win for Swindon Town earlier today saw them draw level with the U's and with Southend United, all on the same points and goal difference but with the other two teams one goal ahead on goals scored. United's last two games? Southend United away on Saturday 27th and Swindon Town at home on May 4th...
