Oxford United made it five unbeaten with a draw against Wimbledon on Saturday but Head Coach Karl Robinson believes his side did enough to turn that one point into three after dominating possession for much of the game.
“We should have won because I thought we were the better team” he told iFollow. “The way we played was excellent against a Wimbledon side who teams have found very hard to break down recently. Credit to them for how hard they have worked to achieve that. But we opened them up plenty of times and our poor finishing let us down; that and some great goalkeeping.
“It was frustrating but we played well. They started well for five minutes but from then on in we were very good and showed that we are a very good side.
"We let a lot of people down in the first ten or 12 games of the season and under performed but there is an air of confidence around the place now and we are moving the ball in a very efficient manner, working hard for each other and are unified; fans and players alike.
“We are on 53 points now but it has been a long season and to be top half after some dark days and going rock bottom, which was a difficult moment. We stuck together and deserve the improvement we have made, but we are still not happy with where we are. There is still an element of wanting an extra month for the season because if we had that then I think we would be contenders to be pushing a few teams late on…”
