We are delighted to announce that the Football Special Bus Services will continue to run for the 2019/20 season and could potentially offer a third service to help get fans to and from Oxford United home matches.
The OX3 and OX7 services have run successfully ever since the club moved to the Kassam Stadium and offer quick and affordable alternatives to driving to the game. Both services will continue for the new season and the club and the Bus Company are jointly looking in to whether a third service would prove just as popular with fans.
The proposal is for a new Football Special bus to run from Didcot, picking up in Steventon, Drayton and Abingdon before heading to the Stadium for every Saturday, Sunday or public holiday league game. The buses back would leave shortly after the final whistle each week and follow the reverse route. Evening league games and cup games are not planned to be included at this stage.
The aim is to make the service affordable and convenient like the existing two services although to achieve this concessionary pass holders would be encouraged to make a voluntary donation in the same way they do on the OX3 & OX7 routes.
Ideally we would also need two volunteers willing to assist on the buses, and so we are inviting fans who would be interested in travelling on this new route to contact Supporter Liaison Officer Kath Faulkner on kfaulkner@oufc.co.uk and state where they would travel from and also mention if they would be interested in assisting if required. If there is enough interest in the next couple of weeks we will let all those interested have further information once the route is registered.
Note that this new route is planned for next season rather than Saturday’s last home game against Doncaster Rovers! The Ox3 and OX7 will be running as usual for that fixture.
