Midfielder Shandon Baptiste has this afternoon signed a new deal that will keep him at Oxford United until 2023.
Shandon, 20, has become a regular starter for the U's this season with some Man of the Match performances in the centre of the park, and has been rewarded with a new deal for a further four years on top of his existing agreement.
Head Coach Karl Robinson said
"It's fully deserved. He has made the most of his opportunity and works very hard at his game. It is fantastic for our football club that another talented young player has committed his long-term future to us."
Shandon said
"I'm really excited to have signed and want to thank everyone who has made it possible. The Manager and coaching staff have been excellent and I am really enjoying my football at the moment. The fans have been unbelievable: they are singing my name and getting behind us and that is great to hear. They were certainly one of the reasons I signed here because I think there are exciting times ahead.
"We have a big game against Walsall on Saturday and then I know the fans are going to create that sea of yellow when we run out against Manchester City next week. We want to go in to that on the back of a league win, and hopefully I can carry on in the team and play a part."
