Oxford United have a double header on Tuesday when the men's team welcome Luton Town while the Women host current WNL Southern Premier Division leaders Coventry United Ladies at Court Place Farm.
Coming off the back of recent emphatic wins over Loughborough Foxes and Gillingham Ladies the U’s will be keen to continue their form against the unbeaten Sky Blues.
Manager, Liam Gilbert told us “We have had back to back positive results and we will be looking to carry this momentum forward into what will be a very tough game”.
Team captain, Lauren Haynes, has been pleased with the teamwork and support shown by her team mates in recent matches and is confident that this will continue as the season progresses.
“‘We had a rocky start to the season” she told us. “We have old faces mixing in with a lot of new faces and a whole range of experience that takes time to adjust. There is a way we want to play and although we didn’t get the results we wanted in the first three games, we’ve stuck by it and it’s started to come to light in the last two.
“We’ve scored nine goals is the last two games and picking up two wins playing the style of football we want to play. We are now starting to gain momentum, and confidence in the squad is high and we will take that into Tuesday night’s game. We know it’s going to be a tough game, they have had a fantastic start to the season, but we’ve got our game plan and we are looking forward to the test.”
