Oxford United Chairman Sumrith 'Tiger' Thanakarnjanasuth is urging fans to come and be part of Saturday’s 125th Anniversary Celebrations.
Prices start from just £1.25 with adult tickets £12.50 and with a parade of former stars to add to the occasion, and United playing in a special kit toi mark the day it should be a great afternoon at Grenoble Road.
“It is so important to celebrate the history of this club” Tiger told us “and we will rightly talk about the great matches, goals and players but I also want it to be about the current day Oxford United. It is another massive game and we want as many supporters as possible to come along but also to bring the noise! When the fans get behind the team it is a great place to be, so put on your favourite Oxford shirt and scarf and come and celebrate with us.
“Right now the team is not where we want it to be in the table, but I think there has been a change over the last few games. We look much harder to break down and each game we play becomes another important step forward. We went up one more place with a very spirited draw at Charlton on Tuesday night; the last three games have seen us go up one position each time. Some would say slow progress but three away draws- Southend, Bristol Rovers and Charlton, with a home win against Plymouth in between is a good run and I think you can see progress being made.
“I know we will get it right. We have exciting players, a Manager and coaches who give it their all, backed by fantastic staff. Off the field you can see the direction we are heading with the Academy thriving, the new training ground giving us a fantastic base and a new board who I promise you will do the right things for this football club.
“So on Saturday we want the fans to come and help us celebrate 125 years of history, but also be part of what will be a very exciting match day.”
