Oxford United’s first team squad warmed up for the FA Cup with military precision today as they spent the day at St George’s Barracks with the DEMS Training Regiment.
Manager Karl Robinson told us
“I like to do things differently if I can before the FA Cup and with it being Remembrance weekend it seemed the perfect time to link up with everyone in the DEMS regiment, who do an unbelievable job.
"It was fascinating to see how the military works close up, and then in the afternoon there was time for some team bonding and leadership activities for the players, which we really enjoyed. I’d like to thank everyone there who looked after us so well. On Saturday we will wear poppy armbands as a mark of respect for those who gave their lives for this country.”
United take on Forest Green Rovers in the First Round, no easy task, as Karl told iFollow
“No, far from easy. They are a very good side, wia good manager who will have them ready for the FA Cup. But we are in decent form ourselves and it should be a terrific cup tie. I love the FA Cup myself, loved it as a kid and still now and I have many happy memories of the competition. Let's hope we can make a few more for fans this season as well.”
