Robinson Ready For Scunthorpe Test

Karl Robinson can’t wait for his first home game when Oxford United welcome Scunthorpe United in Sky Bet League 1 on Good Friday (12.45pm).

New boss Karl has been with the U’s for a week now and iFollow asked him what he has found during those seven days.

“I’ve found a good football club  with a lot of good people who are willing to work hard to be successful” he said. “There are things to improve and one of my big objectives is to see just where we need to make those improvements and see if we have the funds to do it but it has been a very enjoyable week. They are a good group of players and we are looking forward to Friday now.”

With free flags and scarves for supporters in front of the SKY TV cameras there should be a great atmosphere as United take on the Iron and Karl is looking forward to seeing his side once again take on a side pushing for the play-offs.

“We played Portsmouth who are play-off contenders, now Scunthorpe who are the same and then Shrewsbury who are automatic promotion contenders, so the calendar has been very unfair, plus we have Blackburn and Wigan away still to play. But we think we have enough to compete against all of them and we are in a really positive frame of mind.

“I have learned a lot about the players this week. They have tremendous energy and they work hard and their attention to detail has been superb. Joe Rothwell is available again, we may have Jon Obika available after a hip problem and we have the lads back from international duty. So we have a very strong group and can’t wait for the game.

“The fans were magnificent at Portsmouth and we want them to come along and get behind us on Friday in what is a really big game for us.”
