Oxford United’s promising young goalkeeper Jack Stevens has signed a new deal which will keep him at the U’s until at least the summer of 2019.
The 20-year-old keeper has enjoyed a memorable season, starring on loan at Oxford City in their FA Cup run and then winning Man of the Match reviews when he joined Tamworth in January, and has penned a new 18 month contract with a further year option.
He told us:
“I’m more than happy to sign a new deal. The club has been fantastic and I want to push on from here and try to earn more chances in the first team squad if I can. I think the loan spells at City and Tamworth have been a massive help for me and I’m still young and I feel I am learning all the time.
“Wayne Brown pushes all of the keepers here to keep improving and to keep working at our game and I want to reward the confidence that the club has shown in me by continuing to work as hard as I can to make the most of this opportunity.”
Caretaker Manager Derek Fazackerley told us:
“Jack has been with us for a while now and he continues to get stronger and stronger. He listens to the right people, the loans have helped and we see him very much as one for the future here.”
