Oxford United’s under-18 side are putting the final touches to their plans for pre-season as they prepare for the upcoming season.
The under 18s have nine new faces joining as first year scholars and hope to start pre-season with team bonding at an army camp and a week of intensive training in Devon.
The youth team will then play a series of pre-season matches as they prepare for life in the EFL Youth Alliance South West Division.
Leon Blackmore-Such, who will coach the side alongside Chris Hackett, told us:
“It was great for us to see five scholars offered pro deals and they will step up into the under-23 side under Chrissy Allen.
“The under 18s will have a place in that side as their target and we want them to come back and hit the ground running. They each have fitness schedules for the summer and we are looking forward to seeing them report to the new training ground; being in a great new facility like that alongside the first team is going to be a major help for them.
“We have a couple more games we are looking to confirm but we think the games we have arranged give us a good mix and will hopefully set us up nicely for a really exciting season.”
