Oxford United’s pre-season ended with a 1-0 defeat at MK Dons on Friday night but Manager Karl Robinson was full of praise for the way his players have risen to the challenge of a testing five week schedule.
“The lads have done everything I asked of them” he told iFollow. “All I said before the game was ‘no injuries and no going into silly tackles’ and that was the case. There were a few strong challenges and the ball was only in play for 24 minutes in the first half but we got throught he game and can;’t wait for Saturday now.”
“I am over the moon with how pre-season has gone. I want to thank the fans who have been with us ever since Ireland. The atmosphere on Friday was a little bit flatter, what with it being a friendly and with the size of the stadium; when it’s full it’s electric. But the last couple of friendlies have had an atmosphere and we have upped our game.
“We know leading up to Saturday it will be a lot more intense and I know that all the payers are up for it. Touch wood no injuries so far and we have built a good team spirit. We are close as group; we care for each other and we are willing to put the extra yards in for each other.”
