Oxford United are pleased to announce that striker Jamie Mackie has joined the club on a two-year deal.
Jamie, 32, has nine full caps for Scotland and has made well over 400 appearances for MK Dons, Exeter City, Plymouth Argyle, QPR, Nottingham Forest and Reading.
“I think it’s an excellent signing” Manager Karl Robinson told us. “To bring in someone who has done so well in the Premier League and Championship and played international football is fantastic for us. Jamie is a good character who brings a natural enthusiasm and work ethic.
“We have so many exciting young players here and having someone like Jamie around to pass on his experience and know how is going to be great.”
Jamie told us:
“I know Karl and Shaun Derry and know they want their teams to play good football. Working with them was a big part of my decision. I am still very ambitious and want to come and be part of a successful side. There is a fantastic new training ground on its way, there is a genuine excitement about the whole club and I can’t wait to train with the lads tomorrow and start getting some match time.”
Having undergone a scan and completed the paperwork earlier today Jamie should be available when the U’s welcome Crystal Palace to the Kassam Stadium on Saturday.
