Oxford United have completed the signing of right-back Todd Kane on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season.
The 24-year-old has played most of his football on the right side of defence, either as a full-back or wing-back but can also operate in midfield or as a left-back.
Since signing as a professional at Stamford Bridge he has had loan spells at Preston North End, Blackburn, Bristol City and Nottingham Forest as well as spells with NEC Nijmegen and FC Groningen in the Netherlands.
The former England under 19 international has also previously been called up for the England under 21 squad and Derek Fazackerley told us:
“At 24 he is that little bit older and more experienced after a few loan moves and has played over 100 senior games now. He is quick, mobile and as you would expect from someone who has been at Chelsea he is really good technically.”
Todd joins Rob Dickie, Cameron Brannagan, Isaac Buckley-Ricketts and Ashley Smith-Brown in joining the U’s this month.
“It’s exciting to be working with all five of them “Derek said. “They are all ambitious and want to be part of what we are building here. We look at their pedigree, we watch them play but we also do our homework on how they are as characters and all of them are really positive as well as hard-working. It gives us a little bit of energy and plenty of options as we prepare for Charlton on Saturday.”
