Oxford United look to build on a promising start to 2018 as they head for Walsall on Saturday.
Two league wins and progress in the Checkatrade Trophy at Charlton have given United fresh impetus since the turn of the year and First Team Coach Chris Allen is looking for the U’s to keep their foot down as they head for the Banks’s Stadium.
“Every Manager is looking for a run of games and we are no different” Chris told iFollow. “A run of wins builds confidence and momentum; look at Shrewsbury who are doing so well and must be feeling unbeatable. We are looking for the same feeling and looking to carry on our run at Walsall on Saturday.
“I think people can see that we have been very positive since that Wigan game before Christmas. Games like that can galvanise you and make you look at yourselves. The players did that and we did too. We have got good results since then and the Checkatrade game at Charlton was good for that because players came in and did well and gave the Manager little headaches in terms of selection. You’d rather have that, and the squad is good at the moment. We just have to keep ticking over, keep the performances high and go again on Saturday.”
United will wait on keeper Simon Eastwood and skipper John Mousinho who both missed the game at the Valley through injury
“We will assess Simon today as well as John Mousinho” Chris confirmed. “If they can train today then great and hopefully they will be in contention for the game at Walsall.”
