Mowatt Goal Shortlisted For Goal of the Month

Alex Mowatt’s goal at Walsall has been shortlisted for the Sky Bet League One Goal of the Month for January.

Alex’s stunning free kick was perfectly struck and is on a four goal shortlist.

Alex Mowatt – Walsall v OXFORD UNITED – 13th January

From the angle of Mowatt’s run-up, Walsall keeper Liam Roberts knew he was going to curl his free-kick up and over the wall. Trouble was, Mowatt’s strike was perfection itself.

Richie Smallwood – Fleetwood Town v BLACKBURN ROVERS – 20th January

Smallwood visualised this goal so well. Before the ball even arrived at his feet, he knew he wanted to cut back on to his right foot, create an angle for the shot and thump it home.

Ellis Harrison – Doncaster Rovers v BRISTOL ROVERS – 27th January

With his side under late pressure, Harrison delved into his reserves of energy to sprint 60 yards with the ball, leaving defenders in his wake, then driving his shot into the far corner.

Voting is open now on skysports.com until 13th February

The shortlist for the poll is decided by a judging panel following suggestions from supporters via Twitter.

The judging panel comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; Sky Bet Sponsorship Manager David Tweed and EFL Senior Media Manager Rob Meaden.
