Oxford United are delighted to announce that another of their promising young players is to sign his first professional contract.
Michael Elechi, 17, joined the club as a scholar at the start of the season and has been in outstanding form for the under 18 side all season, playing at left-back on the opposite side of the defence to Kyran Lofthouse who agreed his professional contract last week.
Michael’s deal is for the next two and a half years, and will start from January 1st, and he told us:
“Everything has happened so fast but I want to thank everyone at Oxford for giving me this chance. Becoming a professional footballer is all I have ever wanted, right from an early age, and I will do all I can to keep learning, keep improving and make the best of this opportunity.”
Leon Blackmore-Such, coach of the under 18s, told us
“He has been very good for us. He has pace, a great left foot and gets around the pitch really well- he has scored in our last two games so that shows he likes to bet forward. It is another great one for all of the coaches behind the scenes and another sign of the fantastic progress that we are making throughout the Academy.”
