Another home win last night, against Spurs in the Checkatrade Trophy, means that Oxford United go in to their Boxing Day home game against Southend United in red hot form.
Saturday's win over Blackpool made it five home wins in a row - the first time that has been achieved since the club moved ground in 2001.
The last time it happened was in 1996 when the U's stormed through in the second half of the season to seal promotion under Denis Smith. There were great scenes that season and fans are getting behind the U's once again for the festive games.
Boxing Day is always a special occasion at the U’s and right-back Jamie Hanson gets to experience the festive big match atmosphere for the first time when the U’s welcome Southend United. It’s something he is looking forward to.
“The bigger the crowd, the more atmosphere, the more you feed off it” he says in the special festive match programme.
“You get an extra yard for sure. At Derby there were decent crowds but the Oxford fans are just as passionate and I am sure that on Boxing Day they are going to come along in bug numbers and make it a really good occasion. Hopefully we can play well and get a win just to keep them smiling on the way home.”
Boxing Day is always special with the U’s, a time to bring the family and enjoy some live football.
