Oxford United overcame both Blackpool and the winter conditions as they won 2-0 on Saturday.
An own goal and a James Henry strike kept United’s impressive form going in a game that featured strong winds and freezing temperatures
“It was hard early on” Karl Robinson told iFollow after the game. “We actually won the toss and went with the wind; maybe Mous is a weather expert because the wind did die down towards the end of the second half. But when you do that you have to take advantage of it and I thought we were good. The fans were fantastic too- with the wind chill factor it was freezing cold and we really do appreciate the support that we get on a consistent basis.
“That’s 14 games with one defeat now, which is incredible. We are keeping clean sheets and scoring goals along the way and we are not far away from January where we hope to do a little bit of business. We haven’t moved too far away from the bottom positions but we have clawed other teams in and we beat a team today on the edge of the play-offs; we have played a lot of good teams of late and have answered all the questions that have been put in front of us.
“I thought we played some fantastic football in the first half and in the second played a little bit more than Blackpool. I think we looked a very good team in certain periods. We maybe could have had more of a cutting edge and more shots on goal but we have won and right now in the middle of December it is all about getting wins; how you get them doesn’t really matter.”
