Oxford United finally got the win their performances had deserved when they beat Southend United 2-0 on Saturday.
Goals from James Henry and Ricardinho secured all three points, leaving Karl Robinson a happy man after his first win in charge of the U’s.
“It’d only one result but obviously we are very happy to hit that 50 point mark” he told iFollow. “Whether it’s enough or not I don’t know; it’s always the first target but we have to go out and try and get as many points as we can now. But it was great to get a win for the supporters and I hope they had a drink on Saturday night to celebrate an important win.
“We had been playing better and deserved the win but again we had four or five gilt-edged chances and didn’t take them, like on Tuesday night against Fleetwood
“If you take Conor McAleny’s wonder goal out of it then that’s three games where it should be clean sheets, and none from set pieces which had been a problem for us. You can see what we are trying to work on, and we are nowhere near where we want to be, but we are getting there. We saw the game out really well, and it was good to get Curtis Nelson back on the pitch just to shore things up
“The fans were sensational though and deserved all the fun they had today. The whole place just needed a bit of a lift and hopefully the three points can be a bit of a catalyst.”
