Forward Rob Hall will be looking to continue his scoring run as the U’s welcome Gillingham to Grenoble Road on Saturday.
Three goals in two games, all of them terrific strikes, mean that Rob is in good form as the U’s kick off back to back away games, also taking on Bradford City at home on Tuesday.
“It’s a good start but then you have the pressure of keeping it at that level don’t you?” he says in an interview in Saturday’s match programme. “I missed the start of last season and missed the opportunity to do it then so maybe there’s a point to prove this time around.
“I had a full pre-season this year, which obviously I didn’t have last summer, and now I have the chance to show that I’m fitter, stronger and better
“I didn’t start the first two games so obviously I was disappointed but this early in the season if you get that starting eleven jersey you need to be at your absolute best because the gaffer is still learning about everyone here. It’s not going to happen overnight; we’re learning about the gaffer too and the whole thing doesn’t just happen, but I do think things are going well and we seem to be heading in the right direction.
“We’ve started well but now need to keep that going, especially with two home games in a row.”
