In the first of two big home games for Oxford United Women, the side take on Brighton & Hove Albion Women at Court Place Farm this Sunday (2pm kick off) in WSL 2.
United are currently unbeaten in WSL 2, sitting in second place while Brighton are in sixth position and the U's will be looking to maintain that record ahead of their big Continental Cup clash against one of the biggest women's clubs in English football, Manchester City, who visit Oxford on Thursday 2nd November.
United's Assistant Manager Chris Cone says in his programme notes for Sunday's game: "When we played them in pre-season, we were only a couple of games in with a whole new team playing together, so we were nowhere near our best. We can really focus on playing our own game this time, rather than worrying about them, and hopefully we can get success that way."
Oxford know all about Brighton's goal threat, which comes from former United striker Ini Umotong, who joined the Seagulls in the summer and has found the net three times in four matches for her new club. However, Cone is confident that Oxford will have too much for Brighton: "Our attacking options going forward are what will score goals and win games for us and this year we have a lot of depth and versatility."
