Michael Appleton on Manager of the Month Shortlist

Michael in top four in League One for February

Michael Appleton has been shortlisted for the Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month for February

United ezxcellent form throughout the month caught the eye of the judges, former Ipswich Town manager George Burley, Sky Sports’ EFL League expert Don Goodman; EFL Marketing Director Drew Barrand, League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery and saw Michael make the four man shortlist for the first time this season.

The nominees, with the judges' comments, are:

Michael Appleton (Oxford United)
Four wins from five February games for Appleton’s side as they continued their climb towards the play-off places. He is beginning to recreate the late season momentum and fluency which earned Oxford promotion last term.

Lee Clark (Bury)
Impacts do not come much stronger than this. Since arriving mid-month, Clark oversaw a perfect three wins from his first three games at Bury, beating relegation rivals Chesterfield and Coventry to move out of the bottom four.

Neil Harris (Millwall)
The former striker has put in place a defensive system at The Den which took Millwall through February unbeaten, collecting 15 points from seven games, and unbreached at the back - no goals conceded in 630 minutes of football.

John Sheridan (Oldham Athletic)
The miracle worker is back. Twelve months on from his nomination for inspiring Oldham’s revival which culminated in them escaping relegation, Sheridan has done it again - 14 points from seven games lifted Oldham out of the drop zone.

ALL WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON FRIDAY MARCH 10 2017
