There has been some good news for the Oxford United Women this week with youngsters Riva Casley and Ellie Noble both being selected for England U18’s training camp.
Central defender Casley and midfielder Noble, who receives her first England call up, will join up with the rest of the squad at St George’s Park from the 11th July – 13th July.
Noble said:
“I'm really proud to receive an England call up along with Riva, as it has been something that we've both worked really hard for and something I have dreamed of since I was young. It is a great feeling for me and I can't wait to go as it will be a great experience.”
Casley said:
“I'm extremely proud to be called up to England again. It's always been a dream since i was a youngster. In order for me to keep fulfilling this dream, you realise how much the sacrifices are worth it! I'm also extremely happy for Ellie, with her first call up!”
Manager Andy Cook said:
"We are so pleased for Riva and Ellie, they have worked tremendously hard this spring series and this call up is due to that hard work.
“Riva has been one of our most consistent players this season, this will hopefully allow her to push on next season for us and give her the confidence to excel. Ellie has blown me away with her performances this year, she's an ever present in the centre of pitch over the spring series and battled like a seasoned veteran.
“This is her first camp and everyone at Oxford is so pleased for her as she's played throughout the age groups. The credit most importantly has to go to her but all the coaches she's worked with over years; this is for them, the help they have given her is now paying off. I'm lucky that I have the chance to work with players of Ellie and Riva's quality.
“The challenge now for both Riva and Ellie is they now have to maintain standards, I'm more than confident they will both exceed expectations though! Well done girls"
