First home game against Everton takes place on Sunday 12th February at Abingdon
Oxford United Women kick off their new season this Sunday when they travel to Coventry in the Women’s FA Cup.
The game is a curtain raiser for the new Spring Series which kicks off the following Sunday with a home game against Everton Ladies at Northcourt Road. The Spring Series is a new league where the WSL2 teams play each other once, either home or away, with the new WSL2 season then kicking off as a winter league next August.
“Karl Milgate has come in as the First Team Coach and told us:
“It is exciting to be playing again. The girls have been back in for a good pre-season where they have worked extremely hard. We have kept the majority of the squad; it is still a very young group but they have been together for a while and there is a terrific team spirit and enthusiasm which we hope will enable us to do really well.
“We have made massive progress over the last few years. Demi Lambourne and Riva Casley are involved in the England under 20s and under 18s and last season saw crowds rise by 85 per cent: the biggest in the league. Ini Umotong has signed a new deal after scoring 13 times in 19 games last season, making her the top scorer in the league and ‘Player of the Year’, and with over half the girls having come through the age group sides at the club we are continuing to develop all the time."
