Pep Pleased with Performance but not Result

Manager Pep Clotet was disappointed to see his side’s unbeaten league start end at Scunthorpe on Saturday but remained pleased with the way his side performed.

Scunthorpe took all three points when Josh Morris fired home with seven minutes remaining leaving Pep to reflect:

“We’re not happy to lose the game” he told iFollow “but we put in a good performance and Scunthorpe had to work really hard to beat us. I think a draw would have been a fair result and we had plenty of chances to make the game go our way but today the goal didn’t come and they scored a very good goal on a fantastic counter attack.

“That made it difficult for us. We chased the game until the end and showed a lot of character.

"I think we showed that the club has gone a long way in the second season in league 1 in trying to compete against teams that are strong sides in this league.

“We went for the win, that’s the nature of the game, you try to win and we had chances to do that. It didn’t go our way but the effort was there and on other days things will go for us.

“The players did everything they could in a tough game so I am satisfied with that and we move on to face Shrewsbury at home on Saturday.”
