Manager Pep Clotet was pleased with the performance as his Oxford United side made it two wins from two games with a 3-0 win over Portsmouth on Saturday.
"I'm looking for performances and to keep the same mentality as we have shown already" he told iFollow. "It was hard coming after a poor performance against Cheltenham in the cup so the performance today was proof of the commitment of the players and their hard work. It was tough and we can't forget that we were up against difficult opposition so we are very satisfied with the result. At the same time the result does not change the way that we have to keep working, always trying to correct mistakes and try to be even more solid. I don't thnk we are seeing the final product yet."
New signing Gino Van Kessel capped a very encouraging team performance with a wonderful debut goal:
"It was a good goal" Pep said. "The team moved to the right and created a lot of space for Gino on the left. He is good one v one and he showed that in an area he likes to be. I thought all the goals were good goals but for that one the team worked hard to create that space for him, which was pleasing to see."
United head for Scunthorpe next and the new United boss believes there is still more to come from his side:
"We are in a procress and this is not yet the end result. We brought a couple of new players in and we are focussed on improving. Portsmouth caused us a lot of problems in the first half and we will look at that so we can play our own football and do a little more at home but I think it's one of those situations where you are never satisfied, you always try to take something away from the game that you can learn from and move forward- that's the same for the victories as for the losses."
